So I am not the most die hard baseball fan but even I know of the importance of this event.
Today there was an open house at Fenway Park to celebrate the park being open for 100 years. This is the oldest ballpark in the United States and a standing monument to the game. This was going to be something special and it was all free. This almost never happens and everyone in Boston knows it. They have tours and special events for the public throughout the year, but they are usually very expensive and not easy to reserve. But this time you were able to walk around anywhere you wanted to and stay as long as you wanted. I kne
w that this was going to be a crowded event but the weather was perfect and I had the time to do it and after all this is a rare opportunity.
I walked to the park and sure enough it was crowded like a regular baseball game. I strolled right into the park, there was no one asking me for tickets or ID or if I wanted to buy scalpers tickets. It felt very strange to just walk right in and I thought the police were going to come after me for jumping the turnstile. When I was inside I saw that they had some live music and entertainment and the whole thing had a carnival atmosphere. There was lots of stuff for the kids and after all this was a family event for the most part. I had two goals in mind, the first was to walk the warning track and to touch the Green Monster. Apparently everyone else had the same idea. It was not easy to find out where to go to get on the field, so I just walked outside to the seats to see if I could find out where the line was. Well apparently the line was the entire warning track because the line snaked from the Green Monster all the way around the field and I knew I would have to have a little patience with this one. The line actually started inside the park and then went outside for more waiting. After about an hour in line I reached the field and was soon looking at the views the players see every time they play. It was very impressive and everyone was snapping pictures of themselves with the home plate in the background. It was at this point that I noticed the line was even longer to get to the Green Monster and the midday sun was starting to cook me. A brilliant idea came to me and I climbed over the wall to get out of the line.
I decided that it was time to explore the park on my own and maybe shop for some seats. Fenway Park doesn’t have the easiest seat plan for us because although I love the history there is one thing that I don’t love. That would be the seats themselves, they are the original seats and with my fat ass I can’t fit into most of them. People must have been a lot thinner back in the old days because these seats are not comfortable for anyone unless you are a small child. So I visited several sections and tried out the seats and took some pictures of the view from those seats. So when I buy tickets, I can remember what the view was like with the pictures and not have to rely on looking at a seat map online and hoping to luck out and get a good seat. For me the green seats are bad and the red seats are good and this was easier to understand. After picking out my favorite spot, I walked around some more. I never realized just how much they pack into this ballpark because from the outside Fenway Park looks pretty tiny compared to other baseball stadiums. Around every corner there was another restaurant or a wall with historical pictures or special tributes and statues and you don’t see these when you go to a game unless your seats are in that section and I was very impressed. I was even able to see inside the press box where the announcers are, walk the Green Monster and tour one of the luxury boxes. I felt like I was working there and it was my first day. They even had some players signing autographs but I didn’t really care about that. After my tour I went to sit in the seats for a little more to enjoy the weather. I noticed the line on the field was shrinking so I decided to get back in line and maybe I could touch the Green Monster after all. The staff on the field were telling people to keep the line moving because it was getting late and stop taking so many pictures and that made the line go much faster. So that’s what I did and was then able to complete all of my goals. I always thought the Green Monster was made of wood but it is actually made out of metal because it echoes when you bang on it. There are also initials carved into it from various players throughout the years and you don’t see these when watching a game.
This was truly a special event and something I can always look back on and say that I did that. The weather was perfect and everyone was in a great mood and all sharing the same love for Fenway. I am so grateful to the Red Sox organization for letting us all enjoy the historical significance of this event. If you need me I will be in the left field Pavillion Box section 8!
We saw her 10:00 pm show last night at the Wilbur Theater. We went to the later show because we knew that she could get away with being more outrageous and let’s face it, that is what you want to see from Kathy. I’m not quite sure if the earlier show was “cleaner” but the late show was definitely “dirty”. Kathy is always a fireball on stage and tonight was no exception.
Before she came onstage, they showed a video montage of her famous moments. I’m pretty sure everyone there was already familiar with her highlights but it was nice to see them again and it got the crowd ready for what we were going to see and hear. The crowd was very mixed, we saw middle aged housewives, straight couples, fabulous gays and a few senior citizens. We were so excited because we have watched every single one of her specials and now she was going to be right in front of us. We also had great seats because I bought them as soon as they were announced. We paid half of what the other people paid just two rows in front of us. When I bought the tickets I knew that we were not going to be front row center but for the price I paid we had a clear view of everything and we were the first row in our section so no one in front of us.
She then came running onto the stage, jumping up and down and waving furiously, just like she does on her t.v. specials and the crowd waved back and cheered in appreciation. She acknowledged her gays and straights too but there were not that many there. she was wearing black pants and a “team Griffin” T shirt just like on the specials, It was like we were on Bravo t.v.. She then started talking about Boston observations, she said that she went to Pizza Regina in the North End and she made fun of the Boston accent, which is typical of any comedian. She mentioned that she saw Scott Brown walking around the North End which I didn’t believe. I go to the North End all the time and I wish I could just bump into Scott Brown. Thierry and I always seem to miss celebrities when they are in Boston just walking around. Well anyway, Kathy then started talking about her favorite subjects the Kardashians because she “loves” them so much and they always give Kathy lots to talk about. She could spend an hour and a half on them alone. Then she talked about backstage at the Grammys, reality t.v and their stars, more celebrities and of course New Years Eve with Anderson Cooper. I found her funny as hell but sometimes she talked a lot about things that everyone already knew about. This was due to the fact that maybe some people there were not familiar with Kathy and needed to catch up. There could have been more time talking about new things because Kathy has a lot of stories in her arsenal. She darted back and forth between stories just like she always does. This was great because she makes you feel like it’s only the two of you and she is telling you a secret that no one else knows about. She always like to say ” did you guys hear about…” or “do you want to know what…” and that for me makes her different from other comedians and is really is her thing.
The venue was pretty small which was good and bad. It was bad because the lobby was so small that as soon as you walk in you are basically pushed into the seating area. There were T shirts for sale but we were pushed right by them and had no real opportunity to browse. I know it’s an old theater so I guess I can give it a pass. It was a good thing because even the seats furthest from the stage had a great view and that is more important than the lobby. It did kind of suck that you were not allowed to take pictures or videos. I do understand why but it would be nice to have a couple of pictures and a short video at least. I am not going to sell the pictures or video but because of a few idiots we all have to pay the price. But I did mange to get a small video of about 15 seconds so it was better than nothing. Of course I can not post the video because even 15 seconds is not safe for work if you know what I mean.
We both thought it was a great show and we were so happy to finally see her live. Her mom was not there with her but that’s o.k. She did not disappoint and I am thinking about seeing her again tonight. Thierry said one time is good but I am curious to see if see has the exact same show tonight. With her erratic style, I think she will have different subjects to talk about.
So for now I will keep checking for cheap tickets and walk around town hoping to bump into her randomly on the street.
Well not really, but yesterday it sure felt like it. The temperature reached 70 degrees in Boston which set an all time record. It was sunny but that pain in the ass wind was blowing at around 20 mph. The city was alive with activity and events. There were people walking all over the city, people were having picnics and throwing around the Frisbee in the common, hot businessmen were having their lunches outside their offices (one of my favorite scenes of warmer weather), families walked around with their strollers ( not my favorite scene of warmer weather) and everyone just seemed to be in a good mood if you can believe that.
We spent the day walking around shopping for the boat. Thierry bought a small bought that he has been restoring to use for a floating bed and breakfast, so there is a lot to prepare for the season. We walked to Bed Bath and Beyond which is about a 2 mile or so walk and we bought new bedding, a couple of ottomans with storage and heavy duty plastic wine glasses, (no real glass on the boat). We then brought all our purchases to the Charlestown marina but we took the T instead of walking, which is never a good idea when you have large shopping bags to carry. We were smart enough to go around 2pm which is probably when the T is least crowded but today there was a switching problem which resulted in more people crammed on the train. It was still ok because we got on at Fenway station and there weren’t a lot of people when we got on. We got off at North Station and walked to the marina. We walked along the Charles River locks and I never new you could walk that way to Charlestown. It’s actually a very pretty walk that goes right by the Zakim Bridge and gives a very good of the skyline and the TD Garden or whatever they call it these days.
I have not been to the boat very much but Thierry goes more often. He is really doing a great job on the boat. He is putting in a new floor, installing new lighting and Cabinets, and fixing up the bathrooms and have purchased new furniture. It will be very nice to cruise around the harbor and also to have a nice spot for guests to stay in. We should be operational by May of this year.
So we got a lot done today and had great weather to do it in, but do you know what, tonight they are predicting snow.
Recently, Thierry and I were having dinner with friends and one of them asked me why I had not written an entry to the blog for a while. He said my blog was stale because there has been nothing new for a while. I know that he was only joking and didn’t mean any harm and I was glad that he was following my blog regularly. It did make me think that I have let this blog get stale and that is not what I wanted to do.
I started the blog because I wanted to share my experiences as a newcomer to Boston but lately I just haven’t kept up with things. There are many events that we have both been to but I didn’t think they were significant enough to write about. I have been just plain lazy and I don’t know if you guys want to hear about the small everyday things that are going on with us, but isn’t that the idea of a personal blog? The answer is yes.
I do apologize for the lack of updates but I promise you that I will have a lot more to talk about soon. Thierry and I have some amazing things coming up for the year, I mean things that will blow your mind and we can’t even believe that we will be experiencing these events ourselves.
So stay tuned and stick with me, love you all!

After months of talking about it, we decided to go whale watching. It’s something that we always wanted to do and what better a place to do it than close to home. The whale watching boats leave from various ports along the bay but of course we chose the New England Aquarium Whale Watching Experience and it leaves from Long Wharf. I was just a little nervous because the trip takes about 4 hours total and they take you very far out to sea, at least it’s far for my comfort level. In addition, I was also fearful that a whale would come up under the boat and kill us all. Stupid thoughts, but sometimes these things happen. But of course Thierry said it would be okay and nothing would happen and he is usually right about these things. I really wanted to experience this because it is one of those thing that you do in New England so I threw caution to the wind and boarded the boat.
The ride takes about an hour or so to get out to where the whales are spotted and the boat was crowded but we manged to get a seat on the outside. The weather was perfect and not very cold considering the time of the year. Everyone on the boat was full of excitement and was hoping to spot a whale or maybe two?. The crowd was pretty mixed but there were more screaming kids that I am comfortable with but what are you going to do? Now there is no guarantee that you will see an actual whale because they are pretty hard to gauge even with modern technology. The word was out that a few whales were spotted by the earlier boats so there was now a better chance of seeing some.
We reached the spotting area and noticed that another whale watching boat was out there with us. There are quite a few companies that run tours and this seemed like the spot that everyone was going to. Just then we heard cheering from the other boat and realized that they were seeing whales but they were much closer than we were and got a much better view. We were happy to see the whale tails but we were pissed that the other boat was closer and getting a better show. We finally moved where the other boat was but sure enough we didn’t see any whales and thought that was going to be it for the watching. Then all of a sudden we stated seeing the whale tails popping up all over which means the there were about three whales near our boat. The boat guide said that it was probably a family and they stay together. I was really hoping to see a whale jump up in the water and make a huge splash like you see in movies but that didn’t happen but it’s ok, we will go again next year.
We then headed back to the city and enjoyed a nice relaxing ride with the sun setting and everyone either twittering, facebooking, emailing or calling friends and family to tell them that had witnessed a beautiful sight in nature and that they should take the tour themselves. I agree that everyone should take this tour because it is a very beautiful experience and you may be lucky enough to see a whale or two or three.
So now that I have your attention, this is an annual event that signals in the holiday season. About 500 runners gather early at a bar in the Back Bay and start to get liquored up so they can participate. Then for about a half hour all the runners strip down to their speedos or sometimes less and brave the Boston Cold. Most of the runners wear some entertaining outfits that fits in with the season and some just wear the speedo, but they are always interesting. They run a circular route up Boylston then over to Newbury and back and lots of people stand on the streets and watch and cheer. The event happens every year, but most of the onlookers were people that just happened to be in the area and were suprised to see the race.
As you can imagine the weather is very important to the race because usually in early December you can have mild days or you can have bone chilling cold. Last year the weather was mild and this year it was about the same. This means that there were more runners this year because it was more pleasant to run down the street in a speedo. They say that 500 runners participate but I saw about half of that, which means that some people chicken out at the last minute and I don’t blame them. It takes a certain individual to do this and I have to admire them for doing this.
The participants come from all walks of life, some are older, some are younger, some are normal and some are crazy. They are confident in how they look and don’t seem to be concerned that some of them aren’t in the greatest shape. There are of course some drop dead gorgeous runners but it really is a cross section of people. It seems like a lot of companies send their employess and they usually have matching “outfits” which is very entertaining. The runners have so much fun, they cheer back to the onlookers, slap hands like they were in a real marathon, and do push ups in the middle of the street. I have never seen any runner look upset because it was cold or whatever, they all have smiles on their faces and seem to be having the time of their life. Although that could be because they are all liquored up but I believe they really are having fun.
So who knows, maybe next year we will run and participate in all the fun. Although we have to work out for about two years, never eat another thing ever and consume lots of alcohol just to have the guts to sign up to run, so watch for us running down the street in our speedos on a cold day in Boston in the year 2015!
Just one of the great advantages to living in Boston is easy access for day trips. The leaves were changing and we thought it would be a great time to drive up to Vermont to see the fall colors. The bonus for the trip would be a visit to Ben And Jerry’s Ice Cream plant. We rented a car from Enterprise near B.U. because they are right on the green B line and makes it easy for us to get there. So many other car rental places are out of the way to get to

but this one is close by.
We picked up our car and were soon on our way. We don’t drive in the city and in fact don’t even have a car. There is good reason for that, the streets are very confusing and the drivers suck. There are hardly any signs and roads change names and split in multiple directions. There are confusing roundabouts and construction everywhere. We made it out of the craziness of Boston safely and proceeded north to Vermont.
We heard that the fall colors this year was not as good as last year but of course that wasn’t on the news until after we came back. The colors were spotty, some vivid and some with no leaves at all. The drive was so nice and relaxing with lots of trees and hills and the weather was picture perfect. There were not too many cute little towns along the way like you see in brochures, you have to get off the highway to see those. If you really want to experience true New England scenery you really have to drive on the country roads.
We arrived at Ben And Jerry’s and noticed that it wasn’t too busy and knew that we picked the right day and time to show up. The factory is on a hill and there are stairs to climb which feels like you are climbing up to a temple in Tibet. The replica of the first Ben and Jerry’s truck is parked out front and there are little displays on the grounds. We walked right into the next tour and didn’t have to wait at all. The tour is nice but it only lasts a half hour but there is not too much to show anyway. The tour features a welcome movie to tell you the story of Ben And Jerry’s and then you get to see the ice cream being made in the factory. They only make ice cream on certain days so you have to take that into consideration before visiting. After the tour, they give you a free sample of the flavor that they were making that day and you can walk around a little bit and look at the displays. Here is where you can see the hall of flavors and various memorabilia in the history of the company. After the tour we went to see the flavor graveyard, which I really wanted to see. It’s a little area set up like a graveyard with tombstones of flavors that didn’t succeed or was never sold. The tombstones have a cute little saying on them which is specific to that flavor. We really liked this and was probably our favorite part of the visit.
Then it was time for ice cream! you have to get ice cream, after all that what this place is about. I have always wanted to tackle the Vermonster which is a huge sundae with tons of flavors and toppings. I have seen this sundae on food shows and know that I could never finish it by myself and in fact I would need about six more people to finish it because it is just that big. But they have a mini Vermonster that contains four flavors and four toppings and would be perfect for two people. So of course that is what we got and we enjoyed eating Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream at Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. I really wanted to see someone try to eat the big Vermonster but there were no takers. There were mostly families and older people and they only were eating single scoop ice cream cones. What a wasted opportunity, you drive hours and hours and only order a single scoop? this is the place where you pig out and enjoy as much as you can stand.
We really enjoyed our visit but probably won’t be going back unless friends or family want to go. There isn’t too much to see and it does take about 4 hours from Boston. If you are planning a visit, make sure you go when they are making ice cream and when the flavor graveyard is open. I would definitely recommend a visit because it is worth it especially if you love ice cream but then again who doesn’t like ice cream!

So we went to Washington DC this past week to visit some friends. I even flew and you know how I have a fear of flying, but I figured that I need to put an end to this fear otherwise I am going to miss out on some great times. Our friends said that they had a carriage House that we could stay in for free in Old Town Alexandria and that just about sealed the deal for me.
The pictures are all pretty random. I wanted to show the things that interest me about the city and that is more than just monuments and statues but I threw some of those in. I tried to show more of what makes Washington DC so different but it is hard with only a few pictures to place. I hope it gives you some sense of the city.
We left Boston early in the morning so we could maximize our time in DC. I am happy to say that the flight was smooth and very short which is what I was hoping for. We found our way to public transport and we were on our way. We picked up a rental car and decided to drive out to see some other friends that were about an hour away in Virginia. They have a little cabin near the bay and they invited us to stay the night. It was very nice little place but I am city kid and one night in the country was good enough. The visit was just the right length and it was good seeing old friends.
The next day we drove back to DC and returned our car and then went to the carriage house in Old Town where we were going to stay for the trip. We decided to go into DC to get in some sightseeing because the weather was supposed to be ugly for the coming week but today it was nice. We walked around the National Mall doing all the touristy stuff and taking pictures of all the monuments and architecture. That was really fun but there was no way that we would be able to see everything on this one trip. The time really flew by and soon it was time to meet up for dinner with our friends. These friends are our neighbors in Boston that have another place in Washington DC but unfortunately spend more time in Washington. We wish they could spend more time in Boston but certain circumstances won’t allow that and we are just happy to spend any time with them. We enjoyed a nice dinner with our new friends on our first night in Washington.
Now the next day was different because there was a little hurricane named Irene that was headed our way and would cause lots of rain and wind today. It wasn’t raining too bad so we decided to not waste they day staying inside. We took a walk around Old Town Alexandria and were very impressed with the area. It felt a little bit like the South End of Boston with a little Beacon Hill and Back Bay thrown in. There were lots of shops, bars and Restaurants and a hip younger crowd and the architecture of the buildings were different from one to the next and worthy of many pictures. The rain started getting bad as the hurricane was coming closer so we went back to the house. We had a hurricane party with wine, food and conversation but the news was on for me to watch to get up to the minute details of the storm. It was comforting to have everyone around me to take my mind of the storm, because you know how I can be during storms. It turns out that the storm wasn’t that bad and didn’t do much damage in the area but our flight was canceled for the next day to Boston. It also seemed like the next day the weather would be gorgeous and we would get an extra day to see more of DC.
It turns out that our canceled flight was the best thing that could happen because we had a whole day to do some sightseeing. We got up early and decided to do a hop on hop off bus tour and these are the best way to see a lot on a short amount of time. I have been on these tours in London, Paris and New York. You basically can ride along the tour route all day but you can get off where you want and spend as much time as you want at that stop and then get on the bus to continue on the tour route. We decided to do a day tour and a night tour so we spent the whole day touring all over the city. We made a big stop in Georgetown because I have always wanted to see it and there is so much to do around there. We could have spent the whole day there but we didn’t have enough time. After the day tour, we did the night tour and it was just as impressive with all the monuments lit up and presented for the tourists to marvel at.
We could not get a flight back to Boston on the next day so we decided to rent a car and drive the way. After a long drive of about 500 miles we were back in Boston and enjoying our familiar surroundings. I have shorted up my description of our trip because I could write ten times more than I did but you would be bored to death and not come back. Overall we really enjoyed our trip, we got to see new sights, spend time with friends and share more experiences that we will always remember. Even with an earthquake the day before, a hurricane during our stay and my fear of flying everything turned out fine and I am ashamed that my fear of flying could have kept me away from experiencing this trip.
Ok what’s going on? first we had a tornado and now an earthquake. I know that mother nature is pissed off at us but I didn’t think that the end of the world would happen so soon. Well I may be over dramatic but sometimes that is the way I feel.
I was speaking to my Grandmother in Utica, New York and we were catching up on things and then she said that one of her picture frames fell off the mantle and the house was shaking. I asked her if the washing machine was on because the whole house shakes when the washer is on (don’t ask), but she said no and just after that our floor lamp was waving and something did not feel right. Thierry said his desk was moving and stood up quickly and when Thierry gets freaked out then I know it’s something serious. So we ran to the door but the shaking had then stopped. We also thought were we would go? We live on the top floor of a loft and have a roof deck. So where is the place we should run to? If we run outside, we have to go down five floors worth of stairs and once in the street, we run the risk of stuff falling off the buildings not to mention falling buildings themselves!. If we stay on the roof then the building could collapse under us so we decided to go outside and sit in the Common for a while. In my opinion the common is the safest place in Boston for an earthquake because it is built on solid land and wide enough to be protected from falling buildings. It was a shame that I had to think about these things but it was needed in this situation. We stayed there a few hours and watched as people walked by on the merry way not knowing that Boston just had an earthquake!
It turns out that the earthquake started in Virginia and caused about 20 or more states and parts of Canada to feel the earth move. It registered as a 5.8 earthquake which is very strong and very uncommon for the East Coast. The scary part is that they expect aftershocks and they are also mentioning that it may also be a foreshock which means it can be just the beginning and there could be a much bigger quake to come. This is very, very scary to me because our loft building it set on landfill using wood pilings and will be completely destroyed with even the smallest earthquake closer to the city. I have done some research and it seems that most of Boston is set on landfill and could be catastrophic with an earthquake.
So it seems that something is not right with our world. There are far too many weather events happening with far too much frequency. I am already a nervous wreck with thunderstorms so now I have much, much, much more to be worried about. In addition to this event, we are going to Washington DC next week and this is where the earthquake started. A hurricane also may hit the Northeast and did I mention that I also have to fly!. Good times ahead for me?
Tonight was my birthday and I was so undecided as to where to go to celebrate that I made my decision at the very last minute. Thierry told me that I could pick any where I wanted. I decided that I wanted to go to Max Brenner in the Back bay because it’s a new restaurant and it seemed like it would be a festive place to be for my birthday. We made reservations at 6:00 pm which is before it gets busy and all the good tables are gone. Max Brenner is a chocolate restaurant, meaning most menu items have some sort of chocolate in it and of course the dessert selection is all chocolate all the time. Sounded good to me.
We walked inside and the place instantly smelled like chocolate, they must blast cocoa powder out of the ventilation units!. We were also lucky to score a table outside on the patio with a great view of Boylston Street and all the people walking by. It was a little cold outside, but we though it’s a small price to pay for such a good table and we were seated. There are two menus here one is food and drinks and the other menu is just for dessert. We poured through the menu and I decided on the Brenner Burger with Kobe Beef and Thierry picked diced beef and caramelized onion Paninni. It was a special occasion but this was not really the place for an elegant steak or lobster dinner because it is more casual and seems like a good burger and finger food place with excellent dessert. Our waitress was very nice and made us feel very welcome. I had heard that the service here is hit or miss like most Boston restaurants but so far, so good.
Our food arrived very cold and we asked the waitress to send it back to warm it up. We used to not say anything when these things happen, but if you are paying for something why would you not want it the way it is supposed to be. So we have no problem sending back food that isn’t right. Soon after, a woman came to the table and gave us two chocolates for the screwup on the order and those were very good and not to mention a nice little touch. Then the manager came out and said that the meal would be taken care of. I thought that it was huge of them to do that because most places would just bring you another hot order and just apologize, but here they comped the meal. For doing that, they will get our business again.
My burger was huge and it had BBQ Sauce, Cheddar Cheese and Vidalia Fried Onion Rings. It was very sloppy, but very good and the BBQ Sauce had Beer in it which was a little different. The only drawback is that they only serve you about 4 small Waffle Fries with the burger, so that was a letdown. Thierry’s Paninni was stuffed with Beef, Onions, Tomato, and Spinach and it also came with 4 Waffle Fries. The food was very good but the Waffle Fries were still cold. We didn’t say anything because the meal was being comped, so we have no reason to keep complaining and they were trying to make things better.
After dinner was over it was time to order dessert. It takes a while to decide because there are about 8 pages of items. I was in the mood for a big Ice Cream Sundae but it was getting cold outside and that might not be a good idea. I asked if we could have the dessert inside but the place was full so I decided to not order Ice Cream and opted for the Chocolate Chunks Pizza. It was presented very well on a little table but the crust was hard to cut and I felt like I might send it into the air if I pressed too hard. Although it was very nicely served, I just didn’t fall in love with it. It was a gooey mess with Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Fudge, Bananas, and Marshmallows running all over the place. I decide that I wanted the Sundae after all and who cares about the cold weather. My Sundae was great and had everything you could imagine in it, but the ice cream melted too fast and it turned into a messy soup at the end but it was still good. Thierry had Chocolate Truffle Ice Cream and Chocolate Cookie with Fudge Sauce and it looked good too. Thierry didn’t like it because it was a difficult dessert to cut and eat and that takes the enjoyment out of it.
We finished our dessert and paid the check. Thierry left a large tip because the waitress was so nice through the whole thing and we wanted to make sure that she received the tip. We did this because our servers were pretty bad and we didn’t want to reward them. They didn’t speak too much when they presented the food and we saw them get about five orders mixed up and randomly ask people what they ordered when they walked by with the food. We also never received more than one glass of water and they took it away as soon as the glass was empty instead of asking if we wanted more. So we made sure to let the manager know how much we appreciated what he did for us and thanked the waitress again. We went inside the restaurant to see what it looked like and to see what they had in the little candy store located at the main entrance. There was so much chocolate candy in individual pieces and as assortments, but we were so full that we weren’t in the mood for more chocolate.
All and all we did enjoy ourselves, the food was good and had a nice presentation to it. The waitress and manager went above and beyond the call of duty and the selection of desserts was huge. We will be back, but not too soon because there are so many restaurants to try out that we may never get to sample them all. Oh and by the way Restaurant Week starts next week!
